| Indiana All-State Band | Audition in Jan with 3 day committment in March | Sponsored by the Indiana Bandmaster's Association, the All-State Band is selected following state wind auditions. Top players are encouraged to audition for this prestigious band. | Keith Rudolph |
| After-school Jazz Orchestra (ASJO) | The schedule for this group is announced annually in November. | The ensemble rehearses as needed in December - February in preparation for "Jazz ala Mode". Students with no more than two rehearsal absences will earn one award point. School instruments MAY be available for students who wish to learn to play a new instrument. There is no fee for participation. Students may pay partial cost for a Jazz T-shirt. | Bill Leather |
| Marching Band | July - October | Open to all students enrolled in a Penn HS Band class who meet the minimum performance standard. The band participates in competitions throughout the state and Midwest and frequently travels to perform nationally. | Glenn Northern |

| Penn Guard | Tryouts; June Camps; August - October | The auxiliary corps of the Marching Kingsmen Band, the Penn Guard performs a wide variety of routines ranging from flags and rifles to dance routines. The guard also occasionally performs at basketball games. | Glenn Northern |
| Pep Band | Two rehearsals in November and participation at all home Basketball games (late Nov - Feb) |
Any member of one of the Penn High School bands can participate. The Pep Band provides music for Varsity Boys Basketball games in addtion to Pep Sessions and other similar activities. Students accepted in the Pep Band will earn one to three points based upon attendance. Students pay partial cost for the Pep Band T-shirt. Award points are earned as follows: Present at all scheduled events: 3 award points *Other Penn activities do NOT constitute an excused absence. |
