Marching Band Attendance Policy

Rehearsals:    

Attendance is the key to our success!  Members must be present at all rehearsals. Work is not an excuse for absence.  Students missing more than 1/2 of a week's rehearsal schedule will not perform that week (and will be deducted one award point).  

Tardiness:  

Students are asked to assist in returning sideline equipment to the storage rooms at the end of

rehearsals when tardy.  Tardiness not made up results in loss of one award point for every three tardies.

Performances:    

Attendance at performances is required.  Requests for consideration for an excused absence for any reason other than severe personal illness or death in the family MUST be made to the Director of Bands a minimum of three weeks prior to the performance.  One or more award points will be deducted for each excused absence.

The most important performance of the year is ISSMA Semi-State Contest (October 24th ) since that contest determines the ten state finalist bands-PLAN ACCORDINGLY.

Student Leaders for the Marching Band will include:  Drum Majors, Section Leaders, and section assistants as needed.

Marching Band Full Positions/Shared Positions:    

• Everyone who participates in summer band camp will be considered for the field show.
• There will be some shared spots for the field show.  Students sharing spots have the opportunity to gain permanent spots by replacing students who miss rehearsals or performances or who have not demonstrated the ability to play the music and/or execute the drill. 
• Everyone who attends rehearsals will go to all competitions.
• Everyone will march in a regular block position for local parade appearances and for football pre-game shows.
• Everyone will perform in the field show at some point in the season!
